International Orgasm Survey: What really matters

On the occasion of World Orgasm Day on December 21st, we asked you three basic questions about your own orgasm experience:

  • Have you ever faked an orgasm?
  • Do you find sex beautiful without climax?
  • Do you feel responsible for the climax of the partner?

You diligently participated in the survey with more than 736,000 answers and now we want to present the results to you. Around 245,000 Jaumo users from ten countries took part: Germany, Mexico, Spain, Colombia, Argentina, USA, Chile, Switzerland, Austria and Great Britain.

Pretend: A third of you have faked orgasms

According to the cliché, women pretend orgasms more often than men. In Germany, however, the numbers are closer than one might assume: in this country, women are the least likely to pretend internationally (M: 31 percent, F: 38 percent). The situation is most balanced in Spain (M: 35 percent, F: 40 percent). Most fake orgasms are in the UK (M: 35 percent, F: 48 percent).

Internationally, a third of men (32 percent) and 40 percent of women admit that they have already faked a climax.

Clear announcement: In South America, orgasm is more important for women

In South America women have their pants on: orgasms are more important for women in Chile and Colombia (69 percent each) than for men (67 percent). In Argentina (M: 63 percent, F: 68 percent) and Germany (M: 64 percent, F: 68 percent), women are of the same opinion. It is more balanced in the USA: For almost half of the users, sex is beautiful even without a climax.

Across countries, women (62 percent) and men (66 percent) agree: sex without orgasm is less fun.

60 percent of men confirm: “I feel responsible for my partner’s orgasm.”

In the USA, an above-average number of men (64 percent) feel responsible for their partner’s orgasm. Over 61 percent of men confirm the same in Austria, Mexico and Chile. Women feel less pressure in this regard: least of all the German users (39 percent) and most of the US users (57 percent).
